Your staffer was working on that spreadsheet for the past two weeks. Then one wrong keystroke and [insert your own expletive here], the file vanishes! With this software, there’s no problem.
With the amount of mission-critical data on Finance’s PCs, you might give some serious consideration to “undelete software.”
Think of it as a super-charged recycling bin, like Windows systems come equipped with. But unlike the recycling bin, every single file that’s deleted from a computer will be caught by your undelete utility. (You’ll have to clean the tool out periodically.)
The best part?
There are some programs you can install after you’ve already lost something! The software will search for files in likely places it would have gone to and restore it to a usable format. Phew!
So even if you don’t rush right out and buy it now, it’s an idea worth storing away in the event of a future – and potentially expensive — blunder.
You may not even have to open your wallet for that peace of mind. Many undelete programs are available as freeware or at least offer a free trial.
Of course you’ll probably want to check with IT to get its take on the software before you load it on Finance PCs.
