At upwards of three bucks a pop, you don’t want employees calling information for phone numbers on their cells. Here’s a workaround where everybody wins.
In the best case scenario, an employee writes down the address or phone number before he or she starts dialing.
Not always practical — or even possible in some cases.
To avoid the tough-to-swallow $3 charge for dialing 411, encourage employees to do this instead: Call 1-800-FREE-411.
It’s easy to remember, so employees won’t be able to use that as an excuse for not using the service. And you get the same info you need, without the charge.
The only trade-off: Employees will have to sit through two short advertisements before they get their answers.
But it’s a small price to pay for the convenience of still being able to get that phone number on the fly.
And the price is very CFO-friendly.
