How have your employees reacted to healthcare reform?
The initial waves caused by the historic healthcare reform are starting to settle. And your employees probably have some of questions about what it means to them.
While your staffers’ knowledge of the reform bill may vary greatly, chances are people have questions — most likely centered around: “Does this mean major changes to our healthcare plan?”
A recent poll from SmartBlog on Workforce asked managers and HR practitioners, “How many employees at your company have asked how the recently passed health care reform legislation will affect their benefits?” and found:
- No one has asked about it (46%)
- Many workers have asked — and it’s a hot topic of conversation (17%)
- Some employees have asked, and it’s generated some attention from workers (14%)
- Less than a handful of employees have asked about it (14%), and
- Several employees have asked about it, but it isn’t a huge conversation topic (9%).
Note: All percentages have been rounded up to the next whole number.
With over half of the poll respondents reporting that employees have at least some interest in how the legislation will affect their healthcare plans, it may be a good idea to schedule some time to talk to your workforce about the reform.
Readers, have workers at your company been asking about healthcare reform? If so, how has the company responded?
