Fraud's new face: Where firms are most vulnerable now
It was only a matter of time before this type of theft became the top way in which companies were defrauded.
Surpassing physical theft for the first time ever, information fraud is now the number one way in which companies experience theft.
That’s according to the recent Global Fraud Report by the risk management firm Kroll.
That’s a startling finding considering all of the PCs, laptops, company-issued smartphones, etc., that employees have access to each and every day.
What’s worse, this type of fraud can be carried out by anyone within your company — from insiders and execs to junior-level employees.
One often-overlooked way to safeguard your firm: reinforcing strong passwords. Let your employees know they should be creating complex passwords — and switching them up on a regular basis. In addition, be sure to let people know how important it is to log out of sensitive systems each and every time they leave their desks.
