How many finance chiefs completely tune out on vacation?
CFOs are known for always staying tuned in to the everyday activities in the office — even if they’re off vacationing in the Greek Isles. But more finance chiefs are making a concerted effort to break this habit.
According to a recent Robert Half Management Resources study, 69% of CFOs said they check in at least once or twice a week while on vacation. That’s a drop from the 74% who said the same thing back in 2005.
In addition, this year the study found that 26% of finance chiefs don’t check in at all during vacation — compared with the 21% who said so in 2005.
The study also broke down how often CFOs check in during their breaks and found:
- 18% check in several times per day (compared to 13% in 2005)
- 15% check in once or twice daily (compared to 21% in 2005)
- 12% check in several times per week (compared to 14% in 2005), and
- 24% check in once or twice a week (compared to 26% in 2005).
And 5% responded “don’t know/no answer” in both years.
