Forbes recently highlighted the “10 Workplace Habits That Could Cost You Your Career.” Here are the top two:
1. Incessant emailing. If you’re the guy who’s constantly checking and sending emails from his smart phone, beware: It doesn’t make you look more productive. In fact, that behavior can be taken as a personal insult by those around you. Not the best message to send if you’re in a meeting with upper-level managers.
2. Over-complimenting (a.k.a., a$$-kissing). If you happen to compliment your boss a little too often, your team could peg you as a brown-noser and look for ways to sabotage your career. On the other hand, if you’re a boss and you praise a top-performer a bit too much, you may get accused of playing favorites.
