1 in 4 young workers have one foot out the door
Employers are supposed to groom young, talented workers to take over important positions down the road. But it seems like many companies have lost sight of this goal.
According to a recent study by the Corporate Executive Board (CEB), 25% of high-potential employees plan to leave their current companies before the year is up.
To maintain — and retain — high-potential employees, the CEB outlined this six-step strategy:
- Stimulate young employees with engaging work
- Test their abilities to be sure they have what it takes to meet the demands of leadership
- Manage high-potential employees at the corporate level
- Challenge them to acquire new skills
- Recognize high-potential employees with rewards, incentives, etc., and
- Incorporate them in strategic planning and future plans.
