Do IT pros really trust the Cloud?
You may scratch your head over this one:
Half of IT professionals don’t trust the cloud for their personal data – but they do for their employer’s data, according to a recent survey from Lieberman Software.
86% of IT pros think their organization’s cloud deployment has been successful and 56% think the move to the cloud has saved their organization money.
Yet, 86% choose to keep their more sensitive data on their organization’s network, rather than the cloud – and 51% don’t trust their personal data to the cloud.
What does this say about future efforts to move your organization’s data to the cloud? Though the cloud means cost savings, security is still a big issue for IT – the ultimate reason why IT drags their feet on moving to the cloud. Though it isn’t the majority, 46% of IT pros believe moving their organization to the cloud has actually increased IT security.
Lieberman Software president and chief executive Philip Lieberman told Accounting Today that customers “should be asking their cloud providers to prove the security controls they have in place, and how they guarantee compliance with the same standards that are enforced in the customers’ own data centers.”
