Unique way to bolster Direct Deposit participation
If all of the normal arguments (fewer trips to the bank, better security, etc.) to get those resistant workers to switch to direct deposit have fallen flat, you may want to give this a try.
PayItGreen is a free online calculator that shows employees exactly how much receiving their pay electronically helps the environment.
Here’s how it works: You plug in the number of checks your firm issues each year and the percentage of employees who participate in direct deposit — and the calculator gives you relevant figures to illustrate your company’s carbon footprint.
Example — A business that issues 2,600 paper checks annually and distributes 90% of those checks electronically:
- saves 40.5 pounds of paper annually
- prevents 386.2 gallons of waste-water from flowing into lakes and rivers, and
- conserves 115.4 pounds of greenhouse gases.
