The best person to put together a policy manual
You’re looking to put Finance policies and procedures in writing, but chances are few of your staffers are going to jump to volunteer. Everybody already has enough on their plates, right?
No need to tap anyone — here’s the right person for the job.
Think about bringing in an MBA student to take on the task. The student can simply follow your staffers around, recording what they’re doing for each responsibility, whether it’s a check run or a credit check.
One rule: The student is allowed to ask questions along the way. That way, the individual gets a great learning experience, and you get your policies recorded by a totally objective observer.
Who knows? Your “scribe” just might ask a question that will lead you to make an existing process more efficient or effective.
