Workplace bullies don’t have to be rude, intimidating and in your face at all times. Sometimes it’s the more subtle, harder-to-spot bullying that does the most damage.
In this article, OvercomeBullying.org Founder Anton Hout lists eight workplace bully types. Here are three of the most common:
The Two-Headed Snake. To your face, this employee acts like a trusted friend or colleague. However, when you’re out of earshot, this person will destroy your reputation, stab you in the back and even take credit for your work.
The Constant Critic. This bully’s goal to dismantle your confidence through constant — and often unwarranted — criticism. A critic will look for any possible flaw in a someone’s work and labors tirelessly to kill that person’s credibility. Impeccable work? No problem, this type of bully isn’t above falsifying documents or creating evidence to get the job done.
The Gatekeeper. Every office has at least one employee who gets off on wielding his or her power over other — regardless of how minuscule that power actually is. Gatekeepers love denying people the tools they need — whether its resources, time or information — to do their jobs.
