Budgeting for Florida’s New $15 Minimum Wage, Effective Sept. 30
On Sept. 30, 2026, Florida’s minimum wage increased to $15 an hour, from $14 an hour. The minimum cash wage for tipped employees rose to $11.98 an hour, from $10.98.
The increase marked the final $1 annual increase required under the constitutional amendment voters approved in 2020.
Employers should update payroll systems and wage-rate tables to reflect the new statewide rates.
From now on, Florida will adjust its minimum wage for inflation rather than by a set dollar amount. The first such adjustment will be calculated in 2027 and take effect in 2028.
Finance teams should review labor budgets and forecast the cost impact for affected positions, particularly in industries with high concentrations of minimum-wage and tipped employees.
