Here’s what the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division is looking to do:
- Release a final rule granting paid sick leave for federal contractors. Under the proposed rule, employees would accrue up to one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 56 hours per year.
- Issue a proposed rule on subminimum wage. The DOL wants to update the regs for certain workers with disabilities to reflect changes in employment laws.
- Pass a pre-rule on electronic devices used outside of work. Specifically, the DOL wants to research how the use of electronic devices, such as smartphones, affects nonexempt employees’ hours worked.
